At first, my first blog, The 59 Second Minute was supposed to contain only my ramblings about politics, but my desire to write creatively compelled me to try and feature what little fiction I’ve written on that blog.
The result?
My political commentary and my creative writing slowed down considerably, and I ran into writer’s block. Slowly but surely, however, my writing skills returned to me and I started out churning post at a fairly regular, albeit slower pace than I used to — which is totally acceptable considering I had a whole list of priorities that were getting in the way of blogging.
So, a helpful blogger named Word Bandit commented on my about page at the 59 Second Minute, saying that I should separate my creative writing endeavours and my political commentary, saying he (or is it she?) experienced increased productivity with the separation of church — I mean, the separation of creativity and commentary. So, since I had been thinking of the idea ever since establishing my blog, I figured, why not?
And here it is. The “creative” half of my blogosoul (you heard that term here first, kids!) — Ex-Tangent.
Why the name? Because I feel that all of my creative writing is born from my mind wandering off into random dimensions — a tangent, some might say; when I take these creative spurs and write, what comes out is an Ex-Tangent. And plus, it just sounds cool!
